The new Richard Avedon exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery of Art opened this weekend. I am going to go early one Saturday and spend the whole day there if I can. I so admire Avedon's portraits (especially those of Audrey Hepburn, who I just learned was his muse). Definitely go so you can see his portraits of The Family, a series shot for Rolling Stone Magazine during the 1976 dicentennial presidential campaign. There are photos of Ronald Reagan, Senator Edward Kennedy, Rudy Giuliani when he was running for mayor, George Wallace, Donald Rumsfeld, George H.W. Bush when he was the Director of the CIA, and the list goes on.
The exhibit, which runs until January 25, 2009, is $14 for adults, $10 for students, and $12 for seniors/military. Tickets are available for purchase here or at the Gallery.
